Homewood Grove Case Study: Graham Parkin

Graham Parkin (84) moved into Homewood Grove, Rangeford Villages’ inclusive retirement village for the over 60s in Chertsey, Surrey, in October 2025. After visiting the village twice, he quickly knew he’d found his forever home for an exciting new chapter. Graham previously lived in Addlestone but after an old neighbour became a member at Revive, the village’s state-of-the-art fitness and wellbeing centre, he was recommended to visit.

Graham comments: “I love my new, two-bedroom apartment, it’s so spacious. Everything is much more convenient compared to my old house. I’ve turned my spare bedroom into a study which is really useful. I haven’t looked back once from the day I moved in.”

Since the village officially opened in May 2024, the community has continued to flourish. Graham adds: “All the fellow owners and staff are so friendly here. I’m looking forward to even more owners moving in as it makes for a really social atmosphere. I’ve started to take part in some of the group activities and events that the village host too.”

Graham maintains an active lifestyle with a busy social calendar outside of the village too. “I’m a member of U3A [University of the Third Age] which keeps me very fulfilled through attending lectures once a month. I also volunteer at Heart Beat Woking, a local charity that supports those impacted by cardiac problems. I think it’s very important to stay busy during retirement and keep your mind pre-occupied. I get great satisfaction out of all the groups I’m part of.

“I also have some great friends in the local area. We really enjoy attending screenings at The Light in Addlestone, in particular I like the ballet shows and exhibitions. It’s always nice to meet my friends at the great array of local restaurants we have around here too.”

Owners benefit from a range of hotel-style amenities and 24/7 support services, in addition to Oak and Honey restaurant, bar and lounge. Revive features a pool, steam room and sauna.

Graham says: “It’s so convenient to have everything I need in order to prolong an active lifestyle on my doorstep, rather than having to travel elsewhere. They’re maintained to a very high standard and I enjoy using them.”

Homewood Grove has a flexible, personalised and compassionate approach to care. It offers discreet services to owners who require care in the comfort of their own home to help them continue to enjoy every part of retired life comfortably and with confidence.

Graham adds: “Whilst I don’t require the care services at the moment, it’s very reassuring to know that they’re there. I pride myself on my independence but it’s still very nice to have an added level of comfort and support, when needed. I wear an emergency pendant too which is also very valuable.”

Graham’s moving experience was “seamless” and he advises others to “downsize before you have to in order to make life easier.” He concludes: “I haven’t looked back to my old house once, it was the best decision I’ve made and I have no regrets.”
