Octopus
Ed joined Octopus in 2010 and is Portfolio Director in the Specialist Finance team. Ed is responsible for the portfolio management of the Octopus Inheritance Tax Service, which includes Fern Trading and Octopus EIS, as well as being a member of the Specialist Finance Investment Committee. He is the Director of a number of Octopus’ investee companies and has experience in structuring and investing across a number of sectors including energy, real estate and media.
Ed was originally a finance lawyer at SJ Berwin for five years before relocating to Los Angeles as head of business affairs for cineFinance LLC, a subsidiary of Houston Casualty Company. Ed has an LLB (Hons) degree in law from Manchester University, is a qualified solicitor (non-practising) and holds the Investment Management Certificate.

HOWARD NANKIVELL

Officer
Howard joined Rangeford Villages in 2018 at the start of the Rangeford growth journey. Howard has over 30 years’ experience across various consumer sectors including travel and hospitality brands Hilton and Marriott and was most recently an Executive Director at Anchor for nine years, one of the UK’s largest providers of housing and care for older people. Howard is experienced in the delivery and management of high performing later living communities and managing over 30,000 retirement units across England.
Howard is also a Director on the Associated Retirement Community Operators (ARCO) Board, the main body representing the Integrated Retirement Community sector in the UK.

JONATHAN HARPER
CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
Jonathan is a qualified chartered accountant with over 20 years’ experience in finance, property and senior living. Prior to his appointment at Rangeford Villages, Jonathan spent five years with luxury residential developer Berkeley Homes Group and latterly eight years with leading retirement operator Sunrise Senior Living, playing a central role in its expansion and corporate acquisitions. Jonathan acted as Finance Director for Sunrise as well as interim Managing Director during a management transition.

BURGESS
GROUP SALES AND MARKETING DIRECTOR
With over 30 years of experience in property sales and marketing, and more than 20 years in the later living sector, Sarah Burgess is an established leader in her field. As the Group Sales & Marketing Director at Rangeford Villages, Sarah brings a wealth of expertise and a deep understanding of the unique needs of the later living market.
Throughout her career, Sarah has been instrumental in creating and executing innovative marketing campaigns, developing sales strategies, and leading -performing teams. During her time as a Director for Retirement Villages Group, Sarah played a key role in the group’s significant expansion programme across the UK. Prior to joining Rangeford Villages, Sarah was running her own successful later living consultancy, where she shared her valuable insights and vision for the future of the sector.

Angela has been in the housing industry since 1999, holding senior positions with plc, private and housing association developers including those specialising in retirement living. Angela has experience across all the sales and marketing functions from development inception to sell out, customer experience, brand awareness, sales strategies and regulatory compliance.

RYAN
FAIRBAIRN
MANAGING DIRECTOR, RANGEFORD VILLAGES
Ryan has over 20 years’ experience in property, development and construction. Prior to joining Rangeford, Ryan spent three years as a Development Director at EQUANS UK & Ireland where he was responsible for the establishment and implementation of their residential development growth strategy. Previously, Ryan was a Board Director at market-leading student accomodation provider, UPP, where over a 10-year period he was instrumental in securing and delivering a number of high-profile developments across the UK.

LAND AND PLANNING
DIRECTOR
Doug has over 30 years’ experience in the later living sector, where he specialised in identifying, acquiring, and obtaining planning consent for later living schemes, working with key sector players such as Pegasus, Churchill, and Castleoak Care Development. During this time, Doug acquired more than 80 sites with a combined gross development value (GDV) of £1 billion.
