Finding Comfort, Community and a Forever Home at Homewood Grove

Deciding to move to Homewood Grove, Rangeford Villages’ exclusive retirement village for the over 60s, six months ago with her late husband, marked a new chapter for Cheryl, 68.

Cheryl says: “My husband was 15 years older than me so we knew we needed to move from our house in Twickenham to a new, fresh, fully-integrated apartment like we have now at Homewood Grove. The move was to make life easier for the both of us with a lower-maintenance property.

“My husband sadly passed away soon after moving in, however I know every day that moving here was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. The community around me has been central to everything. Feeling supported, cared for and connected has been exactly what I needed, rather than being in a larger house all by myself.

“Polly [Cheryl’s cocker spaniel] and I are so settled here. My husband is my guardian angel and without him, we perhaps wouldn’t have made this move into our forever home at the age I am now but honestly, I wish we’d done it five years ago.

“There are so many ways at Homewood Grove to feel engaged and busy from choir sessions to themed nights at Oak and Honey [Homewood Grove’s on-site restaurant], I truly love it.

“The staff go above and beyond to look out for us and the owners here are just wonderful. I’ve made some special friendships. I know I have everything I need; impressive facilities, hobby groups, regular events and care provisions. All of this will take me from what I need now to what I perhaps need in the future as circumstances change.  

“From first visiting, we’d moved in within six weeks. We were instantly blown away and knew this was the place for us, that’s something that hasn’t changed.”
