First Bungalow Owners Move into Strawberry Fields, Stapleford

November 2025 – Rangeford Villages celebrate another impressive milestone at Strawberry Fields, their latest contemporary retirement village exclusively for the over 60s to open in Stapleford, Cambridge, as the brand-new two-bedroom bungalows are complete. Hazel and John Dale are the first bungalow owners to have officially moved in.

The couple were previously living in Hampshire. After starting to find their property hard to maintain, they knew it was time to rightsize. Finding a home near to their family in Cambridgeshire was a huge priority and after lots of research, they came across Strawberry Fields.

Hazel and John first visited the village in May 2024 and after exploring different options, the sensitively designed bungalows seemed like the best fit for their lifestyle. The new property type to complete at Strawberry Fields diversifies the offerings from Rangeford Villages to prospective buyers.

Hazel comments: “We’re currently in good health but it’s reassuring to know our new home has been designed to support mobility. It’s spacious and has everything we need and more. The village in general has care facilities in place for those who need it, which is also great to have for future. Our new home allows us to maintain independence in a secure way which makes us feel so good and reduces any worries we had.”

It was really important for the couple to be in a community that thrives. Rangeford’s villages are designed to engage and fulfill owners, so they feel part of something special. Hazel adds: “Community spirit is essential for us. As you get older, it can become easy to feel isolated, even as a couple, so the energy and connections that Strawberry Fields gives us is very exciting. As it’s still early days for the village, we are really looking forward to getting to know our neighbours, and for more bungalow owners to move in.”

The owners at Strawberry Fields benefit from a dynamic class timetable that encourages owners to be as active as they like, complemented perfectly by a range of state-of-the-art amenities including a gym and fitness studio. Hazel says: “We haven’t been here for long, but I’ve already taken part in Pilates and yoga classes as well as a craft session. It’s not only a great way to socialise and meet new people, but it’s great to feel motivated and inspired. It’s so important during retirement to do what you love and develop new passions.

“The same goes for events. We really enjoyed the official opening event, led by Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, and are looking forward to more events in the future. There is always something to do and enjoy at Strawberry Fields.”

Hazel goes onto add: “The facilities are such a standout point of this village. The added convenience of having a hairdresser, restaurant, and bar on your doorstep is unmatched. The food at Wild & Thyme is great.”

The couple found rightsizing a challenge but knew it’s exactly what they needed to do in order to find the perfect, future-proofed home. Hazel adds: “We had to take a critical view of what we really needed for the future. Disposing of items with sentimental value was difficult, but we knew it was essential to ensure our new home didn’t feel cluttered. Although it felt hard in the moment, it was entirely the right decision and we are already enjoying our new home and lifestyle.”

Strawberry Fields comprises 147 contemporary one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments and bungalows tailored for over 60s, nestled in landscaped gardens with terraces, croquet lawns, and boules courts.

The village’s design isn’t just about aesthetics; it also prioritises functionality and sustainability. The development features the latest energy-efficient features, including solar panels, air source heat pumps, and triple glazing to reduce carbon emissions. This focus on sustainability is part of Rangeford’s wider vision to create environmentally friendly, energy-efficient spaces where retirees can thrive without compromising on comfort or style. Electric vehicle charging points as well as communal transport, are also available for owner’s use.

Owners will also benefit from 24/7 support, wellness facilities, concierge services, and a fully developed social calendar.
