Owners, families and members of the Rangeford Villages executive team attended an event to celebrate the official opening of a new £1.4 million Village Hall at Rangeford Villages, Wadswick Green in Wiltshire. Located adjacent to the existing Pavilion building, the new facility is designed to meet the evolving needs of the growing retirement community by supporting health, wellbeing and social engagement activities.
The opening ceremony, which took place on Friday 12th March, included a warm welcome by Keith Turnbull, Village Manager, who celebrated the community space, and a speech by Howard Nankivell, CEO at Rangeford Villages. The speeches were followed by a formal ribbon cutting by Wadswick Green’s first owners, June Grant, Marilyn McGee and Christine Carter. Guests also enjoyed live piano and cello performances by owners, Jenny Samways and Geraldine Bateman, as well as art displays curated by owners’ art groups, highlighting the creativity and talent within the award-winning community.
Keith Turnbull, Village Manager at Wadswick Green, commented: “The new Village Hall represents an important milestone for Wadswick Green. It will play a central role in bringing owners, families and the local community together, offering opportunities for socialising, learning new skills and staying active. We look forward to enjoying this fantastic space and to opening up a wealth of new activities for our community.”
Tony Milkins for Beard construction, the project’s contractor, said: “We are delighted to have delivered a high-quality, flexible community facility that will serve owners for many years to come. The Village Hall reflects a shared commitment to creating spaces that encourage wellbeing, activity and meaningful connections.”
Councillor Richard Nunn, Chair of the Community Service Committee, Corsham Town Council added: “It’s an amazing new facility that will have a lasting impact on the health and wellbeing of the owners at Wadswick Green and the other users of the space. Thanks must go to Rangeford Villages for continuing to have the interests of their communities uppermost in their decision making.”
The highly versatile Village Hall has been designed to accommodate a wide range of activities and events, including crafts, cinema nights, carpet bowls, table tennis, bridge, reading groups, plays, art sessions, yoga, Pilates and many other activities and clubs. The new space is expected to benefit not only owners and their families but also the wider local community by providing a welcoming hub for social interaction and shared activities. There is also a large terrace with seating area overlooking the new village green and a bowling green which will follow in the summer.
